Kolor homestead, under the twin volcanic cones of Mount Rouse, near Penshurst, was constructed in 1868 for Irish born pioneer pastoralist John Joseph Twomey. Joseph Reed, the eminent Melbourne architect, designed this asymmetrical plan, single storey Victorian Italianate style mansion with belcast tower.
